A facing is the fabric used to finish the raw exposed edges of a garment such as around the neckline and armhole.

There are two forms of facing a garment:

• Shaped facings - Shaped facings are cut to match the edge they will face
• Bias facings - Bias Facings are strips of fabric cut on the bias or cross-grain and shaped to fit edge.
