Abrash
The word Abrash refers to a change of color of a rug due to a change in wool or wool quality or the consistency of the dye. It is a term used in traditional rug making, and is something antique rug traders look for when buying rare and collectible rugs.
An Abrash will generally run across the rug weft-wise and is more likely to occur at the top of a rug because remaining yarn batches from a previous rug are used up first.
